Fashion icons such as Diana Vreeland and Elizabeth Taylor touted this dress as the most feminine fashion, and as “fashionable for the beautiful people”. This modern kaftan was inspired by the traditional kaftan of Morocco, where it has been worn for many centuries.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOur sewing pattern is for a typical early 1970s kaftan – a V-neck, empire waist, pullover dress. The flattering drape of this full dress makes it comfortable and graceful. Our pattern is floor-length with short sleeves and optional inside ties for shaping. Bodice and panels around the dress allow for mixing of fabric prints. Make this in a soft cotton for a perfect poolside or beach cover-up. Or, make it from a flowing silk and dress it up for an elegant evening.
