Lettuce Edge Knits!
Using the Dawson Top from Helen's Closet
With Liz Simpson
DATE: Sunday February 8th, single afternoon.
TIME: 1:30pm-5:30pm - 4 hours
The ’90s are back - and so is our love for lettuce-edged knits! In this single session workshop, students will sew a knit top from start to finish, featuring fun, flouncy lettuce-edge seams and hems! Using the Dawson Top as a starting point, we will explore the various ways to modify a knit pattern for lettuce edges, all while building confidence using a serger beyond simple seam finishing.
We will be using a long/short sleeve knit top pattern with a turtleneck/mock turtleneck option, the Dawson Top by Helen's Closet . You will receive a printed pattern and instructions, as well as a digital copy to make the pattern with this finish or the regular finish at home.
Level: Advanced beginner. Experience using a serger is recommended.
Recommended Fabrics:
Stretch knits with at least 40% stretch horizontally (cross-grain) and 20% stretch vertically (along the grainline). Cotton jersey, cotton spandex/elastane, bamboo jersey, modal jersey, Merino jersey, Tencel jersey, light rib knits, and ITY (Interlock Twist Yarn) knits will work well.
