Introduction to Cross Stitch
DATE: Tuesday May 20th
TIME: 6-9pm
Science agrees with what many of us knew all along: Crafting provides creative satisfaction, boosts mood, improves cognitive function, and promotes overall mental well being, and the rhythmic, repetitive motion involved in stitching by hand is reputed to have a calming, almost meditative effect, reducing stress and anxiety?. As a bonus, you have something beautiful to show for it!
In this introductory class, you will learn to read a cross stitch pattern, prepare your fabric, work with a frame, and my best methods for working with colour as you stitch an original floral design created just for beginners.
Supplies Required, please bring with you:
- 6 strand embroidery floss, in one or more colours (DMC, Cosmo, etc…)
- 14 count Aida cloth, light colour, 10 x 12” minimum
- 8” Q-Snap cross stitch frame (or other brand of square, tubular plastic frame like “Loops and Threads” from Michaels)
- Size 24 Tapestry needle
- Needle threader (optional)
A kit is available for pre-order, please email us to purchase.
