Stars Quilt with Johanna Masko

Learn the basics of quiltmaking with the Stars Quilt! These large scale classic stars are composed of squares and Half Square Triangles- a versatile and popular patchwork unit that are very widely used across many different quilt block settings. We will cover:

  • Efficient cutting techniques
  • Consistent 1/4” seam allowances
  • Accurate pinning and pressing
  • Working with “sashings”
  • Making a “quilt sandwich” with a quilt top, batting and backing
  • Practical machine quilting
  • Binding to finish your quilt

The Stars Quilt is a great opportunity to have some fun with different combinations of colours and prints. Students can choose between a baby-sized quilt with 4 star blocks (42” square), or a throw-sized quilt with 9 stars (64” square). Star blocks are 20” finished.
