Garment Sewing 101
An introductory course to learn all about sewing your own clothes!

Do you want to sew your own clothes, but don't know where to start? You've come to the right place! Garment Sewing 101 covers everything you need to know about getting started in this exciting new chapter of your sewing journey!
In this 3hr course with hands on demos, you’ll learn how to read and prepare modern sewing patterns, take accurate body measurements, and deepen your understanding of fabric qualities so you can confidently source the right materials for your project. We'll demonstrate various pattern layouts and grainlines, as well as cutting, pinning and marking techniques. Lastly, we'll cover common sewing terminology, techniques and seam finishes found in beginner garment patterns. Participants are welcome to bring a pattern for group discussion, and will take home a booklet complete with info covered in class, fabric samples and their very own personal measurement chart.

Instructor: Liz Simpson
Age appropriate: Adults 18+
Experience level: Level 2 - Confident Beginner, can set up a machine independently, and can sew straight seams and curved seams. Comfortable sewing with stable fabrics.
