QAYGO Tote with Johanna Masko
DATE: Tuesday February 25th & March 4th (Note: This is a two-session workshop, 6 hours of instruction.)
TIME: 6pm-9pm
QAYGO aka the “Quilt As You Go” technique accomplishes patchwork and quilting at the same time, which is well suited for small- to medium-sized projects that will additionally be lined. This roomy, practical tote can be made very simply with large-scale patchwork on just one side, or it can be constructed with a multitude of your favourite fabrics on both sides. Either way, your QAYGO Tote might just become your favourite bag, ever!
Supplies:
(to bring with you, available for purchase at our store or at other stores on Ottawa St.)
1.0m lightweight fusible interfacing
6 or more Fat Quarters for patchwork
2 pieces of thin cotton batting, at least 20 x 20” EACH
0.5m cotton fabric for lining (quilt-weight, woven)
1.5m webbing for handles, 1” wide or similar (cotton-like, not shiny nylon)
Thread for assembly and machine quilting (visible on bag exterior)
(can bring your own or use ours in studio if you do not have)
Small bottle of white washable school glue
Pencil (regular wood case or mechanical)
1” wide regular masking tape
Fabric scissors
Paper scissors or craft blade
Yellow ball headed pins, seam ripper, etc
Chalk wheel or water-erasable fabric marker
for quilting lines
45mm rotary cutter with sharp blade
6 x 24” gridded acrylic quilting ruler
