Patchwork Christmas Stocking

’Tis the season for cute, handmade patchwork stockings! This roomy “string-pieced” stocking has great proportions- big enough to hold lots of goodies for your favourite folks. Our delightful striped stocking is built using the “foundation piecing” technique, giving us a durable patchwork panel with a built-in lining. The simplified construction makes quick work of whipping up personalized stockings for your friends and family, even when the holidays are fast approaching. Workshop students will be offered a beautiful variety of pre-cut strips, as well as backing fabric options, so we can focus on making the best stockings ever!
- 10-12 strips of quilting cotton, 3.5 x 12” each
- 18 x 22” piece of thin cotton, plain white or cream (muslin)
- 18 x 22” piece of medium weight fabric for back of stocking
- 8” piece of grosgrain ribbon, double fold bias tape, or rickrack for hanging loop
- Neutral thread for sewing machine
- Pencil
- Fabric scissors
- Pins
- Glue stick (office supply type)
- Sewing machine with straight and zigzag stitches
- Iron and board
