DATE: 3 Mondays, STARTING November 17th, 24th, Dec 1st
TIME: 6pm - 8:30pm (3 sessions x 2.5hrs = 7.5 hours)
The Nepheline Blouse is a loose-fitting blouse with an A-line silhouette. It is designed to be a voluminous, billowy, oversized blouse. There is ample ease throughout the bust and waist. The sleeves are three-quarter length and feature tucks that create texture and shape. The blouse length allows it to be worn untucked or tucked into high-waisted bottoms.
Fabrics and Supplies:
The Nepheline Blouse pattern is designed for woven fabrics. It works best for lightweight fabrics. Choose a lightweight fabric (2 to 4 oz/yd²) such as cotton lawn, batiste, voile, silk crepe de chine, silk georgette. Midweight fabrics (5 to 6 oz/yd²) will also work and create a sturdier blouse. Choose a cotton poplin or plain-woven linen. Keep in mind the ruffles will be less finely defined if using a midweight fabric.
For fabrics with patterning such as stripes or a tartan, keep in mind that extra yardage may be needed for pattern matching.
Interfacing: 1/4 yard all sizes for button plackets. Choose a weight that is slightly lighter than your fabric.
Buttons: 7 buttons (View A) or 6 buttons (View B) 3/8” (10mm) to 1/2” (12mm) diameter
Please note, you may need more buttons if you change the spacing or lengthen the blouse.
You will receive a physical and digital copy of this pattern and digital instructions will be emailed ahead of time.
SIZING:
The Nepheline Blouse is available in 2 size ranges: B cup (full bust 32” to 48”) and D cup (full bust 42” to 60”).
How to choose your size:
First, choose your size range between the B cup and D cup ranges.
B cup indicates a difference of 2” between the high bust and full bust. D cup indicates a difference of 4” between the high bust and full bust. The sizes between B and D cup patterns are consistent for the shoulders and upper bust. The full bust is what differs between the two size ranges. This is done so that the ease is consistent whether you are a B cup or D cup if you choose your size according to the instructions.
Second, choose your size based on your full bust measurement. Find the size with the closest bust measurement to yours in the Body Measurements chart. If between sizes, size down.
Experience Level: Advanced beginner garment. Students are required to independently thread their machines and sew consistent seam allowances.
