In this class, you’ll learn how to sew your own custom-fit version using lightweight woven fabrics like cotton, linen, or rayon. Perfect for beginners who know the basics of a sewing machine and want to level up with a garment that feels impressive but is surprisingly achievable. If you want to learn how to gather fabrics, cleanly and accurately, this is your class!
The tiered maxi skirt will become a wardrobe staple, easy to style and comfortable, Fully customizable: choose your number of tiers, your volume, and your fabric for a skirt that feels uniquely yours.
Recommended Fabrics:
For this pattern, you can use a large variety of fabrics depending on your desired outcome. Our favourites are generally lightweight cottons or linens, between 3-9 oz per square yard.
Fabric Requirements:
Between 3-5m of fabric depending on body size, width of fabric, and desired fullness. For a 28" waist, with 3 tiers of light fullness, with a 56" wide fabric you will need approximately 2.75m. For a 45" waist, with a 44", more narrow fabric, with extra full ruffles you will need approx 5m of fabric. When buying fabric remember that a narrow fabric like quilting cotton will increase your requirements, and if you want a very full ruffle you should increase your fabric as well. You will require 2 x spools of matching thread and waistband elastic 1"-2" wide in your waist size (available in store), 1m = 40"
Please purchase in advance and bring fabric pre-washed.
