We do love a kaftan and we particularly love a made to measure Kaftan! It's the perfect combination of effortless summer style and practicality - loose, breezy and yet somehow classy! And quite frankly, if it’s good enough for Elizabeth Taylor, it’s good enough for us!

We will be using our own body measurements to draft the pattern from squares. You will draw them out on paper, then cut out of your fabric and have the pattern pieces to take home.

FABRIC SUGGESTIONS:

You will need 2.5-4m of fabric for your Kaftan depending on size and fabric width (approximately 2.5m for size 6 in a wide fabric up to 4m for larger sizes).

We recommend light to medium weight woven fabrics like cotton (lawn, voile, poplin, crinkle cotton, shirting), linen (washed linen, linen noil) rayon and viscose (crepe, voile, poplin, twill, challis) and tencel twill. Fabrics like cotton will give more structure and volume and fabrics like rayon will have more drape and fluidity.

1m of bias binding included in the class, or you can make your own from your fabric.

Experience Level: Level 3 - Beginner Garment, must have taken GARMENT SEWING 101 or have some experience sewing from a pattern. This level builds confidence reading a pattern, introduces common garment construction techniques and practices, sewing with wovens or stable fabrics.
