The Kerttu sewing pattern includes two variations: a sun dress with tie detail at the front, and a simple high-waist skirt. Both variations come with a tiered maxi-length hem and an elastic waist. The dress has a deep V-neck and a keyhole detail at the front. The rounded back neckline is gathered with spaghetti shoulder straps. You can adjust the length of the straps through the opening in the back lining.

MATERIALS & SUPPLIES

Dress

  • Fusible interfacing, 80 cm (7/8 yd)

  • 1 cm (3/8”) cord for shoulder straps, 120 cm (1 3/8 yd)

  • 2.5 cm (1”) elastic, your waist circumference

Skirt

  • Fusible interfacing, 30 cm (3/8 yd)

  • 2.5 cm (1”) elastic, your waist circumference

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS

Choose a light weight or medium weight non-stretch fabric. You can choose a low-drape fabric, for example a light cotton or linen, or opt for a more drapey fabric, such as a medium weight rayon challis or similar. Use a pre-made cord for the spaghetti shoulder straps, or sew them from your main fabric.
